Who is Grandma Doug?
That’s me! I’m a husband and dad to three. But I’m not a Grandma yet.
Why “Grandma” Doug?
That all started as a joke. When I began baking several years ago, my friends would say “You’re going to make a good wife someday!” I insisted that this wasn’t true – I was going to make a good Grandma someday. And the nickname Grandma Doug was born.
Is this your full-time job?
Nope – I am actually a Realtor®! You can check out my real estate website here. When it comes to the bakery, I like to actually do the baking and decorating. If this was a full-time operation, I’d be running a business, not doing the fun work. This has always been a side-gig. Until May of 2020, I worked in non-profits in Oklahoma City, including over eight years at The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. That’s also where I met my wife! She is still with the Food Bank as the Director of Development.
What are your other hobbies?
My wife and I are both active in two separate churches. We enjoy the different types of worship, messages, and fellowship of both. We also volunteer our time to Kairos Prison Ministry. This experience has touched our hearts in a lasting way. If you would ever have any interest in learning more about spending time in worship and fellowship behind bars, we would LOVE to tell you all about it! It’s one of the most rewarding things either of us has ever done.
